Wow it was pretty good. Pretty depressing but great performances from all.

CHRIS ONSTAD INTERVIEW IN VICE

“There are many stretches that are hard for me to read, for personal reasons, because I know the real motivations behind the characters’ hardships. I hate that, but I love that. I love that I had the balls to put my broken heart or ruined life out there when I was unhappy.”

Another week, another mix. Once again, Tensnake is working the mouse, mixing up his staple down-tempo Dance-Disco gems. This one was souped up for Fairtilizer – a “Do It Yourself Music Company developing services to host, manage, publish, license, distribute, sell, analyze, create widgets and players for music files in the new digital ecosystem.” Don’t really know what that means, but at least they have a good mix. OBSERVE.

PEACE

French fancies Air are verging on a return and have done-a-Phoenix (and lots of others, OK?) and given away a track from their new record online – gleefully titled Do The Joy. It seems they’ve returned to the days of 10kHz Legend when things were grittier and 9/11 hadn’t even happened yet. Nice production, not a lot to it, though.

GET IT IN YOU

Bit of a forgotten gem (by me, at least) – had MJ on shuffle this morning and this jam came on – such a good groove. That intro bit is serious

Michael Jackson – Another Part of Me

A hot funky, slippery tune from ’83 charred and ready for summer evenings. Into this for sure. Have a listen.

David Joseph – You Can’t Hide Your Love

Michael’s memorial service yesterday was quite awful to watch – it really drove home both the fact that he was so talented and the fact that he is dead – something I’ve been denying. Plus, seeing Michael’s children exposed was so odd and Paris Michael’s little speech at the end was heartbreaking. It was a real landmark day and a very sad one.

What better way, though, to mourn MJ than to get a virtual flash-based panoramic tour around the arcade room of a recent MJ auction in Beverly Hills. It’s actually pretty incredible – don’t miss out. Holy shit he had Zoltar from Big. No wonder he acted like a kid…

Hot babes, no rules. Vice magazine’s fantastic feature on the babes of the BNP.

Walter Jones – Living Without Your Love

smn

It’s black idol death year for Holmes Price. This one stings.
One of the most inspirational and tough quarterbacks to ever play the game. I will miss him greatly, he’s the reason I got into NFL. RIP my friend. RIP.

Just ran through the new Simian Mobile Disco album Temporary Pleasures and it’s quite great. Highlight track is definitely Synthesise. Here’s a video of it being performed with awesome visuals earlier this year – although the version that’s on the album is pretty different to this one. Behold.

Here’s a driving synth track from William Bottin. There’s a Club Version of this too, which is also awesome, but I prefer this version right now – perhaps I’m a bit delicate after moving house. If you’re into this, you simply must investigate his mixes. Being an Italian man (and what a man!), he spins plenty of Italo unknown gems old agus new – whip it out at your next fiesta. Until then, get on this one.

Bottin – No Static (Main Version)
